Year Round Curb Appeal
The owners' of this residence wanted a foundation bed that changed throughout the summer as well as some year round impact season. The bed is a bit larger than a typical foundation bed, which complements the size of the house, and its edge is highlighted with a swath of red stones. Springtime bulbs add a splash of colour against a spine of low and taller evergreens. Daylilies, astilbe and canna lilies take over for the summer, and then white puffs of hydrangea and yellow spires of ligularia finish off the season. Many of these plants retain their seed heads and together with the evergreen carry the composition through the winter.
